John W. Tiner
CEO / Realtor
John is owner and CEO of Tiner Properties – a full service property management and RE Sales company for both residential and commercial. Tiner Properties is a 3 generation family business – started by his parents in 1976. John joined the family business in 1987 and has grown the company from 40 rentals to well over 1000 currently. John has earned the designation of GRI (Graduate of Real Estate Institute), and is a Life member of the Masters Club. With nearly 3 decades of experience, John has become an expert in all aspects of property management, investment properties, and real estate sales. John regularly testifies and an expert witness in court as to rent values and has been a continuing member of NARPM (National Association of Residential Property Managers) since 1994. As CEO, John maintains the Tiner culture of respect, professionalism, and excellence within his team, signs up new accounts, and sells investment real estate.
John especially appreciates being able to work with both his parents & grown children in the family business. When he is not working, he enjoys traveling, spending times with the grandchildren, woodworking, and playing racquetball.
Amber Van Tassel
Amber joined the Tiner team in 2006, after already working several years in the real estate industry. She is an expert in her field and manages her portfolio utilizing her cheerful demeanor and rapid responses to her client’s needs. Her detail oriented approach and organized work ethic provides her the ability to handle her properties effectively. When Amber is not working, she enjoys her family, great friendships and love of her beagle.
Melissa joined the team in 2001 as a maintenance coordinator. She now is an expert property manager with her own portfolio. Her background in maintenance and customer service serves her clients well. Melissa understands the need to streamline the relationship between owners and tenants. Her bubbly personality makes the most stressed individuals glad they are speaking with her. In her spare time, Melissa loves crafting, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
Nessa joined Tiner Properties in 2011 and has been instrumental in keeping the administrative, leasing and front desk reception departments running smoothly. She has expanded her role and is now a dedicated property manager assistant, where her skills and enthusiastic attitude provide an invaluable resource to owners and tenants alike. Nessa enjoys the outdoors, flea markets, movies, her two dachshunds, and spending time with friends and family.
Lynaia joined Tiner Properties in 2017 with a background in customer service and administrative assistant positions. Lynaia understands how important it is to make her client’s happy and comfortable. Coming from a Veterinary hospital position, she focuses on the importance of prioritizing and completing tasks in a timely manner. In her free time she likes spending time with her family and two dogs.

Sandra joined the Tiner team with a strong background in customer service. She continues to provide Tiner’s clients with the utmost respect and conscientious work ethic by assisting the property managers. She has been certified with the City of Sacramento through their inspection program and effectively inspects each property on an annual basis. She is bilingual, fluent in both English and Spanish. While not working she enjoys outdoor activities, such as hiking and camping, with her family
After 5 years of excellent customer service in the restaurant industry, Tamara decided to follow in her mother’s footsteps into Real Estate. She found she was extremely interested in property management. Tamara loves socializing with her bubbly, yet, professional attitude while meeting her client’s needs. She is ready with a warm smile and friendly voice at our front desk. In her free time, you can find Tamara always on the go when it comes to hiking and staying active in the gym.
Stephanie joined the Tiner Properties team in late 2016 with great enthusiasm! With over 7 years of customer service experience, Stephanie understands the importance of each request and making sure everyone’s needs are met. She completes all tasks with a sense of urgency and accuracy. In her spare time Stephanie enjoys camping and spending time outdoors. She has a major soft spot for animals, loves anything Disney and enjoys spending time with family.
Sheri was the cofounder of Tiner Properties with her husband (John L Tiner, Sr) in 1976. Sheri is multi-talented and knows all aspects of property management; however, her forte is meticulous bookkeeping. Everyone who works with Sheri finds it amazing that she can accomplish all she does, as well as she does, with a smile and such genuine peace and kindness. She is a joy to work with. When she is not working, she loves to spend time with her family (maybe that’s why she works with so many of them too), and 2 dogs – Brook and Sierra.
Sariah began working with Tiner in early 2016 as our leasing specialist. She has a positive attitude, friendly demeanor and a strong customer service background. Sariah has a healthy sense of urgency in helping with the process of leasing your new home. Quick to respond and knowledgeable about the portfolio she is a great asset to the leasing team. She enjoys time at the beach, poetry, and volunteering at the SPCA in her spare time.
Kate Runkle began working at Tiner Properties in 2012 as the Saturday Leasing Specialist, while attending California State University Sacramento to obtain her degree in Philosophy with a concentration on Ethics, Politics and Law. After graduating, Kate joined the Tiner Commercial Team in the Accounting Department. In 2017, she transitioned back to Residential, where she enjoys working directly with potential tenants as our Leasing Specialist. Outside of the office, Kate enjoys traveling, exploring nature, and is involved in Sacramento’s local art and community events.
Tom recently joined Tiner as a part-time Leasing Agent and brings a great deal of experience serving customers in the high-tech industry. In the past several years he has developed a strong interest in real estate investing and property management. In his spare time Tom enjoys skiing, the ocean, playing music, and spectating at his kids many activities! This combination brings a valued asset to our leasing team!
Realtor/ Buyer’s Agent Specialist
Susan has 3 decades of experience in property management and excels at a variety of skills that make an expert property manager and sales agent: great judgment, a strong work ethic, the ability to handle multiple tasks at once, a thorough understanding of real estate law pertaining to property management, and a strong knowledge of construction and maintenance. She has a talent for understanding both sides of a situation while keeping the client’s best interest in mind. She currently is co-manager of the residential division and mentors the property managers and bookkeeping staff. Recently, she has joined the Tiner Real Estate Team as the Buyer’s Agent Specialist. While not working, Susan spends her time enjoying the outdoors and her pets.

John is the founder of Tiner Properties, he and his wife Sheri began managing property in 1976. He has always been a top producer in Real Estate sales which is his area of specialty. John is a Life Member of the Masters Club which is held by less than 1% of all the Realtors in the Sacramento Association of Realtors. John is an expert negotiator a skill that saves his clients lots of money! Most all of his business is repeat and referral business and has been for many years happy clients just keep coming back and telling others about him. In his spare time he loves to play golf.
Jenny has been in the real estate & property management industry since 1997, specializing in selling residential real estate since 2004. She has successfully helped hundreds of buyers, sellers and investors with their real estate needs and surpassed Masters Club designation which places her in the top 2% of all Realtors. Jenny has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Marketing with extensive education & experience in sales, marketing & negotiating. Jenny knows what it takes to market homes in the most appealing way with an ever changing online market presence including great photographs, attractive property descriptions and great marketing strategies. Jenny is an expert negotiator and fantastic communicator and keeps clients well informed throughout the entire marketing and escrow process. Her clients always receive an extremely high level of experience and professionalism. When Jenny is not working, she enjoys traveling, living an active lifestyle including running marathons, spending time with her twin sons and watching them play competitive soccer and baseball.
