    About Rio Linda, California

    Rio Linda, California is a census designated place to the northeast of Sacramento and near the northern part of Sacramento County. As of 2012, about 15,106 people lived in Rio Linda. Originally built on land that was part of the Rancho Del Paso Mexican land grant of 1844, the town was once knonw as Dry Creek Station, as it was a railroad stop. Renamed Rio Linda in 1913, about fifty families lived there by 1918. The area was known in the early 1900s for its poultry production. Notable parks include Gibson Ranch Park, which is about 325 acres, and Depot Park. The Sacramento Northern Bike Trail, about ten miles long, connects Rio Linda with Sacramento. A small airport also exists in Rio Linda.
