Lincoln is a city of over 48,275 residents, about 32 miles northeast of Sacramento. Between 2000 and 20120, Lincoln grew 282.1%, making it the fastest growing city over 10,000 people in the United States. Currently, the city is improving the
Lincoln Boulevard corridor to support pedestrians and new-energy vehicles, as well as beautifying the street (formerly part of Highway 65).
The town of Lincoln was originally planned and settled in 1859, as a railroad connection from Roseville to Lincoln was completed in 1861. In the 1870s, a large clay formation was found nearby, and the town was know for pottery for many years. The city began a huge boom period in the late 1990s as the Sacramento region began to grow.
The city of Lincoln has many outlets for entertainment and recreation. Thunder Valley Casino was the first casino opened in the Sacramento metro area in 2004. The baseball team the
Lincoln Potters currently plays in the California Collegiate League. The city also applied for a state grant in 2020
to build a 3.5 acre park next to the Lincoln Community Center.
In 2006, Lincoln was named an All-America City by the National Civic League, the only California city to be named such that year.
