About Tahoe Park, Sacramento
Tahoe Park is a neighborhood in Sacramento named for the 17.82-acre park located between 59th and 61st Streets. The community is home to approximately 8,500 residents and has a rich history within the city’s southeastern area.
The area that is now Tahoe Park was first annexed by the City of Sacramento in 1911. Residential development began in 1939, when new tract homes were built near 55th Street and 8th Avenue. Following World War II, Sacramento experienced rapid growth, and in 1948 the area now known as Tahoe Park South was annexed, located southeast of 14th Avenue and Stockton Boulevard. In 1958, the city annexed additional land northeast of 14th Avenue and 65th Street, now referred to as Tahoe Park East.
Growth slowed during the 1970s and 1980s, but thanks to active neighborhood associations and revitalization efforts, the community began a strong resurgence in the late 1990s that continues today. Tahoe Park is now known for its established homes, strong community involvement, and central location within Sacramento. The entire neighborhood is close to 1-80 and Highway 50, making it easy to commute to work and school or head to other destinations.
